Hot stones have been with the Hawaiian people from the start of their oral history (called Lomi Lomi). It is used as a healing system. The stones were heated in the fire pit whilst being loosely wrapped with Noni leaf and then placed on a clients problem areas.
Ancient Hawaiian Lomi Lomi practitioners would use the stones in combination of all four elements, stones for earth, heat for stones was fire, seawater over the stone was water and working with breath (air).
Kate’s experience with hot stone massage left her feeling incredibly relaxed and rejuvenated. The soothing warmth of the stones created a sense of freedom and tranquility, offering a moment of escape from the stresses of everyday life. This profound feeling of relief inspired Kate to share the benefits of hot stone massage with others, particularly in a world where people are constantly on the go. She’s passionate about helping others discover the transformative power of relaxation and self-care, offering them a chance to unwind, recharge, and find peace amidst the busyness of life.
Kates hands-on therapeutic massage is ideal for those seeking relief from muscle tension, stress, and a need for overall relaxation. The primary goal is to alleviate pain, improve circulation, increase flexibility, relaxation and promote overall well-being.
Therapeutic massage is beneficial for individuals of all ages. Kate’s personal experience has deepened her understanding of its impact, as her father has long struggled with muscle-related issues. Kate offers a 4 session parenting course for infant massage, these run for 1 hour. These sessions provides detailed information about appropriate oils to use, permission sequence, strokes for legs, buttocks, abdomen, chest, face, arms and back. Benefits of massage, infant body language, bonding, touch relaxation and massage for older children.
Kate's background in a neonatal ward, where she spent time caring for sick newborns, has deeply shaped her understanding of the importance of touch and connection. Additionally, as a stepmother to two beautiful children with bone disabilities and behavioral challenges, Kate has witnessed firsthand how nurturing care can make a profound difference, not just for the children, but for their parents as well.
Her passion for infant and pediatric massage stems from its many benefits, both for children and their caregivers. For newborns, massage fosters bonding through appropriate touch, helps parents recognise their baby's cues, and can assist with issues like sleep regulation, colic, wind, and reflux.
Regular massage also gives parents an opportunity to notice potential health concerns early on, particularly physical conditions.
Massage has the added benefit of reducing stress hormone levels in both children and parents, creating a calming space where they can focus on each other's needs. This shared time of relaxation fosters confidence, trust, and connection. For children with disabilities, massage offers them a safe and comforting way to communicate their need for touch and relaxation.
It provides a sense of security, whether it's after school, before a bath, or during moments when a child feels overwhelmed and needs to centre themselves.
Although child massage is a slow process, it is incredibly rewarding—offering both emotional and physical benefits that create lasting bonds and support healthier, more balanced relationships for parents and children alike.
